All,
I’ve been quoted approximately £480 to replace my Thermostat in a 54 plate TD Freelander 1.
How does that sound, expensive, cheap, average?
Thanks.
Also, forgot to ask. Does the Diesel Freelander 1 use any kind of special coolant. Thanks.

Yes, expensive. OEM thermostat currently about £40, and the job took me about 4 hours. So your garage is looking for over £100 per hour, or they don’t want the job.

Td4 needs OAT (pink) coolant.

What is the reason you are changing the thermostat is it leaking< or is it that its not getting up to temperature ? if the later then an inline stat (gates) will do the job for you.

My TD 4 thermostat wasn’t coming up to temp so I fitted the Renault one in top hose. Took about 15 minutes, temp is now spot on. Cost about £8 if I remember right.

It's the later, not getting up to temp, so i'm going to try the inline Thermostat. Thanks.
