Hi all,

Another frustration the weekend, the thermo blend motor next to the glove box is faulty and is on constant hot, I wired in another motor and that was faulty too.

I had been given a set of three when I bought the car and only the motor that works is the one that operates the air direction, however I assume the cogs are supposed to be in a set position and I wanted to swap the motor from this unit into the non working thermo motor.

However I know each motor goes in a certain way and just wanted to see what the cog arrangement was for the thermo blend motor on LHS/passenger side so when I swap the motor over I can make sure the cogs are in the correct position?

I could buy some new ones but wanted to try and use what I had first.

Cheers.

I have got the workshop manual and electric trouble shooting manual will have a browse in there thanks,

The gears in the blend motors line up on marks. They are all the same. It's the electrical feed to them from the Hevac that causes changes of direction. They are assembled with the drive in the central position and must NEVER be powered when not bolted in position.

I feel its more than likely the flaps that are sticking than the motors,I know that in mine thats the problem. Just waiting for the better weather to remove dash and do a full overhaul.

Left and right blend flaps very rarely if ever stick and they have a motor each side. Distribution flaps do stick for various reasons and they only have one motor driving two sets of flaps. Often blend motors can be sorted by stripping them and stripping the electric motor removing carbon dust deposits that short them out.

I think the left motor needs taken out an rebuilt so they are so intricate its whether they work when put them back together.

Pretty simple job unless you have ten thumbs and no fingers. Look at the link i posted and familiarise yourself with them.
