Just been chatting to a guy today about his range rover. Its a 2000 'W' 4.6 Vogue with multi point LPG in black with black leather. Looked very nice, all standard, not messed with. Done 137k miles but new engine 50k miles ago. He bought it a couple of months ago from a car auction in Leeds for £1,600 !!! Had the O rings and blend motors to sort out, cost £300. What a bargain, didn't realise they were going this cheap, could be very tempted :)
 
Still very tempting, had a new engine 50k miles back, never know it might have had top hat liners fitted.
 
My dad has had his '98 4.0 for 9 years, been ok but only done 62k miles. Not on lpg either, that might make a difference!

They're old cars now. If the V8s were as bad as people make out, then there would be none left on the road these days. Fact is, there are loads still out there running.
 
The P38 V8's are a BIG gamble. Mine's gone through 2 engines in 121K & ready for a top hat block. They can be expensive to maintain but still worth it over a diesel IMO. Trouble is most would opt for an L322 over spending £3k on a new block so we'll see less & less V8's on the road.
 
4 v8s, 10 years in total never had 1 overheat or slip a liner . it's just scare stories banded about by the diesel owners to make their stinky sluggishness look better. commence discussion.
 
The Rover V8 was very fragile if abused but treat it right and it'll be with you for a long time. A lot like the K-Series. Horror story after horror story of failed gaskets but I've run a fair few without drama but keeping it well maintained. One even did 3 seasons of trackslag abuse.

There is a degree of luck in it with the V8s as some blocks made it though QA which should've been binned, but the bad ones are becoming extinct in a hurry leaving mostly good ones left. If it is being sold too cheaply chances are it isn't a healthy example however.

If I could go back in time I'd get the Vee just for that sound track. But I am happy with my derv, could do with some singing lessons but it does what I want.

two important components cps injector 4 how many you got ? On the petrol :)
