Lightening DOES strick twice!

Late last year, my LHD Discovery of 13 years finally died on the MOT operating table. End of an era of family travels at home and abroad.

Reliving childbood memories on the farm and hoping for a vehicle to last the next 13 years, I bought an N-reg, red, 110 Defender. Bonded quickly - then, a few short weeks later (Maundy Thursday to be exact) - she was stolen from outside our bedroom window. Regrets all round but the insurance paid up - and decided to learn from the experience, increase the AA loan, and get a younger and more secure vehicle.

May 1st collected a very handsome, Y-reg, dark blue 110. Almost love at first sight; went faster, stopped faster, alarm, immobiliser, steering lock - lovely! Then - today - sometime between 1-5 am - well, you can guess the rest. The only remains; a dismembered headlight and bit of moulding - subsequently dusted for fingerprints by police and completely clean. (Am I right in assuming the thieves used this route to get at the electrics?)

Not sure why I'm posting this! Sympathy? Shared experiences? Hoping someone will tell me I'm not totally mad to even think of getting another Landy? And - above all - information, suggestions. What else could I have done to make my vehicle secure? Are alarms and immobilisers totally useless if they were disabled so easily? What use tracking device (received totally opposite views on this)? How about devices such as "Mech Lock" (yes - been on the internet most of the day...)? Anything else?

Thank you for listening!

i suggest either buying another vehicle thats not a landy or... move house. by now they know your an easy target and your going to get one nicked every week if your not carefull!

Feck me Griff !

Yer not big on sympaffy then ?

He's rite like !

No good frettin over it, No-one died.
And at the end o the day it wer just a collection of metal and rubber bits.:)

Well it will be by now !

Bad luck.
Somehow mere execution of those who stole it is far to quick and easy. A slower and more painful punishment should go on the statute books!!
