the wifes baby is playing up

hi too everyone im new too the owners club which is brill,but the wifes freelander one 2.0dti is acting up,she drives down road and the revs take its time to drop down on gear change and also the engine red check light flickers and it starts kangarooing up the road,im baffled to what the problem is,its been plugged in no codes,any one out there can you help,pulling my hair out whats left of it,thankyou..........

The "car" needs to be driven with the diagnostic equipment attached. Dad had the same problem before he got rid of it and purchased another disco!
