Personally i love it!

The shape and interior is perfik IMO

However with it being a modern RR i dread to think what it'll be like when it gets to "The Age"

ya know that special time in an old RR's life when it suddenly decides to fall apart :D

Anyway, what are your opinions on it fellow RR peoples

And If you fancy building yourself one go right ahead!

Had my v6 L405 since 2014 and it hasn't skipped a beat. I've only put 23k miles on it however.

Super comfy even on 22inch rims, fuel efficient (still averaging 36mpg on a clear motorway run) and it's surprisingly not too thirsty around town. I compare it to my old 2012 x5 40d which spent most of its time in a petrol station.

Overall a positive experience knock on wood

Regards

11 months and 30,000 miles in and loving it, though the SDV8 drains me of £600 a month in fuel  (it’s still worth it though :D).

Along with my last two Disco 4’s, they’re the best cars I’ve ever had!

It was good right up to 30,074 miles, when it decided to have a “rest” at the dealers’ where it’s had it’s feet up for the last 3 weeks (it’s a proper Land Rover!). I’ve been driving a Disco 5 for the last 1,800 miles and it’s a piece of c124p after the L405 and the D4. I’d gladly be driving either in place of this.

The 405 has a few areas that could be better - decent reversing lamps would be a good start, as would rear seats that fold properly, but it’s a nice car and I’d really like it back now please!

Someone I was talking to when I first got a L405, in a surprise move, went and traded his SDV6 for an X5 50d (I love the badge on the boot that says “50d”, don’t the Germans realise?).

How do you think he’ll be getting on with it after the Fatty? He went quiet when I asked him recently.

PS: Here's ours, on our "summer" holidays, in the woods in Wales, over easter this year:

I think they are very nice, but not for me.
Too many things to go wrong. The P38 is bad enough.
But I don't think any newer LR is "built to last" to the same degree as the Old-uns.

Too many cylinder heads etc and I really do not like the uneven beat, sounds like a permanent misfire. Only had 1, a Mk2 Daimler Jag. Never again.

Unusual take on V8's, but each to his own I guess. I like the old saying (US origin I believe) 'if God had invented an engine it would have been a V8'
nb: I have a soft spot for straight six's as well.

Only on the crossplane ones (I think that's what it is), but ferrari and lotus etc sound completely different .
I like straight sixes as well
