The Final Straw

So after the hippo developing a bad clutch slip now,having a wheel bearing start to go and needing new tyres, i priced up the job. Due to it going to cost significantly more than the car is worth i have sold the FL. Thanks to everyone here in the freelander section of the forum for all your help and advice over the past few months. You are an abundance of knowledge and a lot of the repairs i've undertaken and issues i have come across would not have been fixed and overcome without you. I will still be around on here as i would like to think that some of the things i have learnt on the FL may help someone else in the future.
Plus i have bought a Disco so you aint getting rid of me that easy!

Are you ready for more problems, especially rust.... Can you weld?

luckily i can weld! its the electrics im more concerned with as ive got a disco 3

You'll need some work lights so yer can fix it all day and night.

Not much welding to be done on a D3!!
That's what I want, a nice D3 HSE.
Probably an auto to save on clutch changes.

Be alright unill you need to change the belts, which are a bastard or glowplugs which make people wince

Sorry you had to sell the freebie though, glad you have got something that's still nice

Depends if you only brought it for a few hundred to begin with. They are all just wearable items IMO but if you don't keep ontop of them the money soon racks up

those D3's turbo changes are body off jobs aren't they ?

If you buy it for a few hundred (like me) you can justify spending more on it because it is still less than the current market value!

Same, I brought mine cheap and spent money on it making it how I wanted it. Had a few hiccups along the way though and spent a little more than planned!

They are a challenge as are most jobs on the D3!! A Freelander is a lightweight compared to the D3.

i can imagine

i went from a freelander td4 to a range rover td6 !

major difference on repairs
makes the humble freelander simple and easy to fix

Need to make some higher ones I think

Some who do D3 turbo's regular manage to do so with modded/bent spanners etc so don't always need the body oft. If they have problems then it needs to come oft.

So double height hippo ramps will be called disco ramps...
