No surprise but both of my Discovery 2 sunroofs are frozen and not working.

Now *I know* this is a world of pain and *I know* this is expensive to mend but has anyone found a garage that after the requisite teeth sucking and warning of the size of the bill has actually got on with the requested job and sorted them out?

I can travel and take her somewhere but fingers crossed that this garage of joys is not in Cornwall! Sods law, it will be!

Have you got air con? if so seal the roofs up, they dont really offer any benefit if you have a/c.

As for the job itself, once roof lining is down and out (an easy but slightly fiddly job) the rest is just simple mechanics work and easily diyable.
 
Hi Just done mine but as said before its headliner out job, that's 1-2 hour job to get out, take the sunroof out, 2 hours if it really stuck down, mine was leaked like a sieve, and ruined my headliner, I removed it entirely from the roof to work on it
but before you do any of this try to find out what's the problem, mine was the glass lifted but would not go back, and the operating leaver did not lock, so I bought a secondhand unit of E bay, part 14 on page 76-6-2 in the RAVE it a spring operated locking system, also the the lifting?pushing arm a moved by a long small diameter coils spring, with what looks like hemp rope, I took both mine out and soaked them in thin oil but the most important bit is when you but the back the are in at equal length this can be quickly checked as when the glass is down and there is a small lock on the glass frame as long as both lock left and right are in the same place the drives springs are equal, when you fit the spring lock it needs to be set up correctly as well, to lift the glass you should push the "push button" once on the whinder it should do 1 full turn then lock again with the glass in the raised position, pushing the "push button : again now allows the glass to move rear wards

I also had the repair one of the lifting arms, at the end of the arm is a small peg that should hold a small bit of plastic that guides the arm along the grove that lifts the glass, this plastic piece had broken and it was causing the glass to lift more on one side twisting the glass, it replace it by making a similar pieces using the other side a s a guide from a bit of left over window plastic trim works fine it just white not black

Thanks. But I want them mended so I will take your notes on it being easy as a positive. :0)
 
you may want to check out my post on the headliner, it called " out with the old headliner" as it also shows the video I watched that help me to do it on my own
