Does anyone happen to know what euro rating the 4.4 is please

is it different between petrol and diesel plse

many thks as always

see there’s suppose to be a euro 7 being launched , alas don’t know if that’s true or old news

Doesn't really matter, the Euro rating for ULEZ is E4 and above for petrols, my 2005 Jag is exempt.

Not me! ;)

Indeed Sounds bloody awful!

Not just me then, lol , also the engine doesn’t sound very good when he lifts off the gas

that’s also handy to know ref tensioners , always like to know the bits here and there when looking at motors , of traits , inc service parts , cost of tyres etc

By the looks of it the V8 4.4 was only fitted to the D3 up to 2006, D4 came in late 09-10

but in the D4 they have the 5 litre petrol V8 , jesus I bet that think shifts , inc the fuel gauge, lol

that would worry me having an engine that size

alas maybe the other option is a FFRR so can get a later model after 2007 for the jag 4.4 engine

also bet a replacement engine or repairing a 4.4 is serious money

You seldom have to open those engines up..

The chap above in the video has prolly not maintained it, even a robust engine can suffer when neglected ;)

Having only driven the V8, I can't compare against the diesel version. The 4.4 is certainly a nice engine with no common faults if well maintained. I will resist the temptation to modify the exhaust.

The 5.0 petrol V8 is the only option we had in the 4 until 2014. It can really shift and the fuel economy seems around the same as the 4.4. It has an appetite for water pumps and the timing chain tensioners need to be updated before the engine fails. The tensioner has a plunger against made of harder metal and subsequently wears out. The upgrade is a small circle of metal that can withstand this contact. In typical JLR fashion this was not a recall and is quoted at 20hrs at the dealer.

Since landing in Canada in 2005, I have had mainly V8s including the 5.7 in the Dodge Ram and a whopping 8.1 petrol in a Chevy Suburban...........now that was a towing machine that liked fuel stops with an avg 6-8 MPG! Running the LR3/4 seems economical in comparison lol.
