The cause of my breakdown was indeed as some posted on the SOS subforum
the wiring to the stop solenoid had been affected. A very good friend of mine and a damn good mechanic has taken apart the dash and it looks as if
1. the tracker has shorted as its live wire had burnt clean in half and affected other wires or
2. two white wires one that goes to the dash voltage indicator which are years old gave up the ghost.
the second wire however we have chased to the stop solenoid and its manky all the way down so I have ordered fresh wiring, and it will be replaced.
in your learned opinions anything else we should have a gander at or think about or check.
