Sue where abouts roughly are you based? as in the nearest big ish town maybe there is somone in the area a trusted member that can help if you ever need it. dont post actual location thieves.
I would suggest you sort out the security and maybe put an extra cutout on the engine.

I like it! And totally agree about the cup holder...a must have, way before tyres, mud flaps etc, but perhaps a marginal second to security
Thank you. The tyres aren't bad but I think one of the jobs this summer will be to change them for some that are better for mud and ice. I will remember these. Looking forward to a bit of snow and ice too
. The Disco frightened me to death in slippy conditions, being automatic it was horrible on our big downhill stretches. I described it as a 2 tonne sledge. My daughter second pony was called minnie mouse. Where exactly was the mouse, not inside I hope We are to the North West of Leeds.
Will be kept in my garage (locked) drive gates down the side of the house (also locked) security lights all round. Plus two cars on the front which would have to be moved to get it out. Quiet neighbourhood watch area too. Have got the steering wheel lock and a wheel clamp somewhere. My old landy had a very good cut off switch on the diesel pump (or something like that) was just on a normal light switch so not obvious. In fact when the Landy garage had to pick it up for service they couldn't find it. Quite funny when it was the same guy that fitted it

I agree - need a cup holder (once got lots of hot coffee across my lap).
In terms of an earlier post about loads of bits you can buy what with splashing out cash and more cash on bits for the defender (I am sad you see) and tend to think along the lines of:
1. Does that make it safer (i.e passenger, driver)
2. Dees that make it more secure
3. Does that make it faster / more power
4. Does that make it stop faster
5. Do I need it (cup holder = yes, upgraded suspension if I need it for work, tow ball for horse trailer, mud flaps - whatever)
6. Does it make me happy
7. Is it just cosmetic.
Load the scores and decide.

A couple of those I would not put any priority on at all. For example the go faster/more power, unfortunately when I'm towing I'm one of the rolling roadblocks everyone moans about
Had not considered the stopping faster either. Again when towing livestock you cant afford to brake hard. The weight doesn't affect that either as the trailer brakes are excellent. Its really good practice for reading the road well, almost as good as riding a motorbike.
The safer and more secure definately, and the cosmetic will probably make me happy
So I will do the security first but I'm a bit stuck on what would make it safer. Obviously regular servicing and suitable tyres would come under that. I have planned to have it serviced when the garages open after the holidays.
I think it probably has the the essentials, tow bar, electrics and a cig lighter. (Before anyone jumps on me I need it for the mobile phone and sat nav as its a pain if you go wrong on country lanes and have to turn an outfit that big round) thats my excuse anyway

Agree with you totally, my "list" was not made up for explicitly (spelling correct at this time of night?? - woah) towing livestock in a horsebox.

Oh yes, get some more fag lighter 12v feeds fitted if you are wanting lots of charging devices added (sat nav, 'phone etc). They are perhaps £8.00 ish (perhaps Halfords, may be cheaper elsewhere) each plus cable plus fitting??
Thanks I will investigate that. I was also thinking of possibly adding a second battery, the way they do for caravans. It would be nice to use the things like the shower to wash to horses off without keeping the engine running because I'm frightening of using all the power. But that would come at the bottom under the "nice to have banner"

I have actually enjoyed driving for the first time in years. Have been running around in Matty all day, car hasn't run since I got her
She is as noisy as hell (no mats in the back yet) but I dont care.

few of us got together and rent a lockup and pooled tools.
bit more than the average on your doorstep mechanicing, minimal payments involved to help with rent and electric (was a donation but just reveiwed it all. now 20 quid for up to 4 hours).
most garage tools apart from electronic diagnostic equipment as most of us run either disco's or series motors.
best investment has been the 4 post ramp!
