Folks...Is it me or does a the engine temperature always stay low on a series 2 2.25 petrol engine, no matter what the weather it's always stays low..are my clocks faulty...? Just thought I'd ask the forum.
Thanks ina advance :)

Our son's Series III works OK, he had overheating problems on a trip to Holland and knew when the kettle was about to boil!

Might be worth changing the sensor. If you earth the wire that goes to the sender unit, the gauge should go to hot IIRC.

I believe smiths made different types of guages and thermistor sensors, some sensors have a colour code that matches its guage, if you have had an engine change sometime and ended up with a diffo sensor that could explain a low reading.

Thanks folks...good advice, Strangely enough, yesterday on Sunday, whilst out at Tatton Park, I found out that it was working..lol The fan belt which drives the fan pulley snapped, I noticed my gauge right up there..lol So it was working right, Im glad to say.
Thanks again.

in that case it could be that your thermostate could be jamed wide open alowing for the water to circulate around the system without heating up propally
take it out when cold and see if you can see through it then dip in boiling water to make sure it open correctlly
