Here we go again... I've got a disco 2 on a 2000(td5) it sometimes turnes over for ages before starts when hot, I've changed crank sensor, air flow meter, injection loom,, cleaned ecu connection and harness has anyone had same problem? I'm now out of ideas of what to do next. Thanks for all the help so far.

Hi mate, do you mean fuel filter? And not sure where air bleed is?
fuel filter yes.the air bleed valve is in the fuel filer head.there are 4 pipes 2 front 2 back.you need to remove the rear outer fuel pipe then with a 19mm ring spanner remone the brass coupling in filter head.inside the air valve is a small filter.if this is removed or blocked can (not saying will) cause your symptoms. Part Number WJN500110 About £15

it could also be your fuel pump is weak.

Hi Cliffy, it sounds to me like you have either a fuel supply or an air-in-fuel problem.

Here's how I would proceed:

1. First work is to do with the fuel supply. Have you checked to see that the in-tank pump is working correctly.

Turn the ignition key to pos. II and listen by the drivers side rear wheelarch - you should be able to hear the pump turning? Is it making a screaming/gurgling noise? If it is, this means it's purging air (I'll come back to this) from the system or it is struggling to pump.

Next pump-related this to do is remove the pump from the fuel tank and check the gauge filter in it's base. These filters are often clogged up with black sludge stuff and need cleaning otherwise the pump is working too hard.

2. Air in the system, this can cause bad starting and has many possible causes.

Perhaps it's best to deal with No.1 first.

Looking at fuel filter I removed front left connection and found filter (air bleed I think) is this correct. Also has it a none return valve and if so is it the rear left connection .
