I need to change temp sender as readings are way out with my defender gauge . My one has a brown end. I came across this thread a while ago about the different coloured ends but i cant find it now. Does anyone know what the colours apply to.

Hi I had the same problem was the 200tdi the original engine as I had a NA and put a 300tdi out of a disco and the sender is not compatible with the gauge. there was a company that sold the adapter to use the original NA sender but it didnt fit so i ended up buying a 300tdi defender sender and a 300tdi gauge now its as good as gold and sits in the middle all of the time. hope this helps. I know the red and Blue are one is for a Defender and the other for a Disco.

Cheers Denis, i have a disco 200tdi fitted into a defender. I know i can get the right sender for the defender gauge, i just wondered what the different coloured ends ment. The gauge is obviously wrong and i have a brown ended sender. I have got a second hand green ended sender today of a local mechanic to try but i just wanted to know if either of these were the right ones to work the gauge, if not what coloured end would be the right one?

Mick, steve parker sells two types of senders for 200tdi disco engines in defenders. The disco engines used two types of thread. So you have to determine if your current sender has coarse or fine thread. If it has coarse thread it seems that you can also use a 2.5 n/a sender (PRC6663).

You find the senders here: Steve Parker Land Rover Spares, Details of Category Name 200 Tdi Discovery > 90/110, Spare Parts, Freelander, Defender, Range Rover Parts, Land Rover Conversions

Also check the partnumber of your gauge. You need gauge prc7311 to get the senders mentioned above to work properly.

good luck!

Joachim

I went to the main dealer and gave them my chassis No etc and they said ""it could be one of three, Which one do you have in now"" :scratching_chin::doh::frusty:
