temp gauge not working

The temp gauge on my freelander aint working ...i've only had it a few day .... anyway today i had a fiddle with the sencer ....the thing with pink/green - pink/black wires coming out of it ...so i disconned the connection and the rad cooling fan starting to spin ...pluged it back again and the fan stopped ... but the gauge still did not move... any ideas


btw its a 1989 1.8 petrol

where do i locate the sencer for the temp gauge?

do a search on here, dogfox. Someone else has a similar problem and NI posted to two colors for the sensors. I posted the electrical circuitry.

ok found the correct sensor ( blue one ) .... also i wired it direct to earth and the temp gauge moved of the scale .... ordered a new sensor from land rover of taunton and will be monday

Just fitted a new temp gauge sensor and its now working fine

nice one! TBH, the parts guy was probably impressed with your knowledge of the sensor. Not many FL owners would change the electronic stuff, they wouldn't normally sell the components to joe public, more like through the service team.

He may have regarded you as a specialist who fixes FL's for a living

If the blue sensor does the temperature gauge, what does the brown one do?
