plenty horror stories about regarding the egr failure on the tdv8. mine are blanked but im wanting to find out if a bypass unit can be fitted removing the egr valve all together. given up looking on google. ill be asking the guy who's going to be remapping my car if his opinion on it to. any input good or bad is great

Why would you want to bypass it? I would suggest that if blanking it works then stick with it.
No point re-inventing the wheel!

the problem being that the valve snaps and it can break up and destroy the cylinder head or worse still wipe out whole engine. another option i guess is just remove the valve and blank it at the cooler

Ah right. I have heard tales of them being ingested into the turbo/engine but I thought that was what people blanked them off for.
I would imagine that as it's a fairly modern injection system you could just remove it totally and blank both ends.
I would guess that it would need deleting from the ecu though to stop it throwing faults unless you can blank both ends and leave it in situ?

needs deleting from ecu. im unsure weather they map it so its perm closed or weather it is deleted from the map. mine blanked with egr still present and i can hear a rattle on passanger side. im hoping its the egr valve and nothing to do with engine. i always beleved it was blanked to stop the crud restricting the inlet manifold. if my egr has let go then it possible it being blanked has saved me a lot of time and money
