Hi folks

Quick question- planning to do a leak off test on my injectors soon to help diagnose this lumpy running.

Does anyone know if the td4 freelander ones are the same? Or in fact if any of the BMW models using the Bosch injectors are the same as the RR's ones?

Cheers

Sam

So what about the coding that is inbuilt into the injectors? If I were to change say one injector, would I need to have that replacement injector coded to fit the range?

I don't know about the coding ?

I just thought you need to get the right number injector (1-6 etc..)

My mate has fitted a second hand one and it never needed coding.

The part number on the back of each injector specifies its number i think

I see- will rave have the injector number in it do you reckon? I might just get a second hand one delivered to me, do the leak off test, then swop the injector over to see if that alleviates the issue. Cheers Ellis

I would be carefully looks can be deceiving they may look the same but the internals eg plunger, cup, metering body etc may be different if you thing you have bad injector simple and low tech way of finding it am not sure what the exhaust on a td4 is like but if you have a laser temp gun let the engine idle for 10 mins and go along each cylinder on exhaust with temp gun if you have a injector over fuelling it will be a lot hotter if you got one not firing or partially firing you will have a cold cylinder 20 degrees variance is fine

Just depends on if you can see exhaust you can pick em up for 20£ good bit of kit to have
Td6 may be coded bosh are funny buggers I know catapiler injectors are coded and will not work unless they are programmed and they are made by bosh I only work on plant lorries and busses so not 100% about the smaller engines you best bet is try and source someone or a decent garage who has a snap on solous pro you can do anything with that. Are you getting engine management light on? What exactly are the symptoms your having ?

lumpy idle upon start up , persists until engine is hot but is still uneven. All comms is bringing up an injection error. Mpg has dropped a little. always starts though.

Before goin to injectors check for a restriction if they are being starved of fuel you will get a injection fault make sure both lift pumps are working change fuel filter and if you have a compressor blow fuel lines back to the tank I have seen this on on a td5 it was the high pressure pump from the tank no pumping enuf causing a restriction. But these are things to check before throwing cash at in

Any fuel leaks from tank to engine
Drawing air anywhere
Fuel filter chocked or drawing air
Key on confirm lift pumps are running

There free so worth a look

A may be total wrong could just be an injector but worth a quick look I can phone a place I've had injectors done up at before boys are pretty helpful all see what they say what year is car ?

Zip it Ellis- you are almost as bad as my boss harping on about me NEEDING to get a mac!
All very valid points SJF- Fuel filter was changed not long ago, no leaks, can hear lift pump working when key in ignition. Its a 52 plate.
