I've had my 1999 Disco TD5 now 5 years and ever since iv had it i have had to top the white plastic water header tank up every week,If I do a 200 mile trip to south coast and back the the tank is half empty. As i say been like it for 5 years so if it was anything important i would of noticed.I change my oil and filters every 6 months and no sign of water in there besides after 5 years i would of noticed.........( I have a sneaky feeling tho that it could do with a new screw top on the header tank )

Take the plastic covers off your engine and take a look at all the coolant hoses to see if there is any tell tale pink stains anywhere.
Do the same on the underside pay attention to the bottom of the water pump housing and also the steel water pipe that runs across the front cross member.

Did have a look see and as you look at the engine on left hand side there is a cylindrical part (waterpump??) with a hose running from the bottom of the expantion tank it has some pink stuff on it that has then dripped onto the engine mounts below

I have pic if need be

Does it look like this: Allbrit LAND ROVER & MG ROVER Ersatzteil Katalog

This is the fuel cooler and is situated on the lhs of the engine as you look into the engine bay. It has O-ring seals on each end that eventually give way and allow leaks. The good news is that you can easily repair this yourself with new O-rings bought off Ebay for peanuts.

Dave

PS The water pump is on the rhs of the engine, behind another belt driven component (alternator iirc). Check this for leaks as well.

Thanks exactly my issue photos could be my disco!!!

Seals order on ebay will attempt it next week!!!
