if someone throws a bucket o water at it ..........the 200 coz the mastic round the tupperware lunchbox under the seat housing the ECU and the FBT and the APC and the ADI will have let a nanometer of moisture in and they all will have simultaneously fused into a big glob of sillycoon in a td5!!!

tee hee, yer time'll come :D:D:D

TBH have heard good things about the TD5 but am always put off by the germanness of it and the need for a computer to read the ecu. My 200 does just fine but i don't really need to go fast - the difference in cost for me is better spent elsewhere.

the water has been ****in in that box but so far not been a problem fingers crossed
i took it to the stealers last week told um to seal it up, what did they do said it could'nt be done so they drilled some fookin holes in it to let the water out !:screaming_bug_eye_f
they are having it back again next thursday but not for that ! the fly by wire throttle is playing up (still under warranty ).
have got the all clear from them it wont effect the warranty to seal the box myself , so a mate that is a fibreglass laminater is going to seal the inside of the box for me
****ed off i have to but hye better that than fooked up.

i have a 87 90 (200tdi disco engine) as well that will be back on the road in a month or 2 then the 56 plate will not see much off-roading (although i will miss that td5 power :D )AWSOME!

So as my friends has just brought a td5 90 he is going to be fitting a snorkle and wants to be going in water over the bonnet and more that likely it will also be muddy. Will his electronics be affected much?

ECU and other electronics are under the drivers seat. Not the most water proof of places in a Landrover.
Other stuff such as turbo dont like cold water either especially when they are hot. Alternator wont like working under water especially if its muddy and will destroy its bearings before long.
Radiator and intercooler will clog and fan will chuck mud everywhere else.
Doors will leak and chassis will fill up.
Why not buy a submarine ????

So how fast will a tweaked 200Tdi go? In a bored moment on an empty motorway last week I saw a sat nav verified 88.7 on the flat in my bog standard Year 2000 90 TD5 CSW. The only thing that stopped me seeing how much more was to come was the sudden realisation that it is still on its original tyres!

I was driving along the motorway in a convoy the other day, thought i was doing about 75 and when we got there the person behind me in a brand new volvo said that doing 90 must have been pretty hairy in my 200 - guess i need to check the speedo!
