hello, my disco managed to fill its sump with diesel, this resulted in it reving off the limiter untill i stalled it. I have drained the sump, and topped up will oil. The disco will now crank over for ages before finally starting, but then only runs for 30 seconds before concingout again. Cant see any diesel in the oil now tho. Any ideas??:rolly:

tested the cylinders, the 1st was a shade lower than the rest. I removed the injectors, two of them were completely melted at the tips, and the other three were perfect.

It seems likely that either injector seals gave up or has been said the internal galleries that supply diesel to and take excess away fro the injectors has a tiny crack in it / gone porous, mine did and would push 2 litres of diesel into oil in just 150miles.A s you have figured this soon reaches the breatherand gets drawn into the air intake...

You can try simply changing all the seals and watching oil levels VERY closely or you can sned the head for pressure testing of the diesel galleries, they need the injectors in for this, also they need to heat the head to operating temp as some cold tetsts don't show a leak.

If you have no other vehicle , chnge the seals and try, if you can get the head off and tested, and chck for other damage to valves etc when it ran so fast, are you sure you?stalled it? or it stopped ewhilst you were trying to and is damged in valve or big end area? Obviously you need 2 new injectors:(.
Wish you luck, after much stressing and agro I ended up with a lower engine rebuild, plus a new turners head...

Thanks estonian blue! Head was taken off today and taken to pressure test, although the garage i took it to said he could not test the galleries or the rail, only the usual head test and skim. Cant seem to find anyone local(conwy, north wales) to do the full test.
