Hi, wondering if anyone can help me I’ve just finished rebuilding my head after it’s been for a skim on start up it was difficult to get going. I had to purge the system quite a few times and charge the battery. When it started it was running rough and died when idleing. Any ideas I think it might be the rocker arms needed adjustment ? It was around minus 3 when starting so could it or simply been the cold and a bit of fuel starvation ? Thanks in advance

Hi. Did you fit new injector washers and seals with extreme care to cleaneliness? the copper washers are not reusable, once removed they'll not seal well whatsoever... also the adjustment of the rocker arms after such work is complusory

Thanks for your reply, yes fitted new washers and o rings and adjusted the rockers. However on adjusting the rockers I found my manual confusing I read they need bottoming out ?? And should be set when that the cam lobe is at its highest point for that injector ?

If you look on the front end of your camshaft you will see some numbers 1-5.
As you rotate the cam, there's a line by each number which lines up with a little notch in the casting by the locking pin hole.
As you line up each one, work on the corresponding rocker.

Back off the screw from the bottom by one complete turn and tighten up the lock nut.

You bottom out the screw, not the injector plunger.
on the contrary, the injector plunger has to reach the bottom first otherwise the whole setup is useless, here's from the workshop manual:
......
5. Before refitting the camshaft cover the
electronic injection unit (EUI) rockers must be
adjusted.
6. Remove tool LRT-12-058 from camshaft.
7. Rotate engine clockwise until No 1 injector lobe
is at full lift.
8. Rotate rocker adjusting screw clockwise until
the injector plunger is felt to bottom out.

9. Rotate rocker adjusting screw anti-clockwise
one complete turn to give plunger the required
bump clearance
and tighten rocker arm
adjusting screw locknut to 16 Nm (12 lbf.ft) .
CAUTION: Ensure screw does not turn as
locknut is tightened.

Hi turns out my injectors hadn’t sealed properly when i replaced them. Brit part washers and o-rings were useless now fitted with genuine Land Rover ones and she’s running like a dream. Thanks for the advice all
