TD5 Replacement clutch, which one.
Could anyone with experience, advise on the best option replacement clutch for a 2000 TD5 Discovery. It has 140,000 miles and is starting to slip. Also should I go for Dual mass or solid flywheel, what are the pros and cons of each. Any best prices and sources would be good. It's about the only thing I haven't changed on the big lady.
Cheers

1. Look at the top of the page, find the search box
2. Fill in the search box..... Maybe put in something like,I dont know; "solid flywheel"
3. Brace yourself... the next bit is really clever.
4. Marvel at the magic of modern technology
5. Click away to your hearts content, finding the answer to your question.
6. Read through a few other posts and find another member asking a question before they've done a search.
7. Copy these instructions.
8. Paste them onto their post.

Rant over, heres one for starters. Rakeway are very good. Their kit is very good, they know their stuff, but arent the cheapest around.

First make sure the clutch slipping is due to wear.. Likely after that mileage, but a common fault is a leak in the diesel pressure relief valve, which can leak fuel into the top right side of the bellhousing, contaminating the clutch.. It happened to me and several others I know with TD5's.. Mine took a year to get to the replacement or stop stage..

I used a valeo clutch and fitted a dual mass flywheel, My thinking being its what Landrover diesigned the car with so Why change it. I know the dual mass flywheel if expensive BUT how often do they go?? I've got receipts for all work on my car from new in 2000 and its done 130k and from what i can see it was still on its original clutch so they can be that bad.

After saying that i had to do the job twice as the first kit had valeo dual mass flywheel, thrust and spigot bearing BUT some other brand of plate and the Plate was faulty, The shop i bought it from had several returned from the same batch so they sent me a Complete Valeo kit and all is sweet.:D

If its just a clutch plate you're after, I have an AP driveline clutch plate spare if you're interested. PM me if you are.
