My rear electric sunroof TD5 has never worked in my time.I had a look the other day and the mechanism was frozen-freed it off using torx bit in manual overide and lubed it up well and now opens and closes on the torx bit fine.
Anyone know what fuse serves the rear sunroof?I can hear the relay energising somewhere in left foot well when I press switch.
If it turns out to be motor,is that easy to get to?
Cheers for any help-cannot blame this on bio use as it never has workd

as long as the front works the most obvious is that the motor is stuck cos both sides are using the same fuse, the sunroofs have theyr own ECU which gives feed and earth path in conjunction with the BCU, it's hard to measure for feed as it's a logical circuit and if you unplug the motor the ECU might cut the feed 'feeling' the open circuit and with the motor plugged if it's stuck the ECU cuts the feed as it senses the extra load and "thinks" the sunroof it's closed.

the best diagnose here is to get hold of a new or a certainly good motor, plug it in(you dont have to fit it in place for that) and try from the switch... if no activity with the good motor we can speak then about further troubleshooting but untill then any discussion might be in vain

with all this rain we`ve had. i had to pull the fuse to stop the rear sun roof opening of its own free will. gonna have a look this evening for the manual overide i did`nt know existed.
is it obvious?

it's water ingress to the ECU then IMO cos it gets earth on the switch's input(the ECU is in front centre of headlining) ... to make sure cut the earth path from the switch with the isolator switch and if it stops it means the sunroof switch is fubar'd

The rear sunroof-motor isolating switch is not switch on ? worth a check.

Only three screws hold the motor to the frame, u can just about see them but there's not much room above the head lining

I can hear the relay energising when I press switch,so I dont think it is disabled, but will check.
Can you remove motor without removing head lining?

Removing the head lining?. Well u will have to drop it down, so remove the side trims above the boot side windows with anything that stops u doing that, also the head lining trim that's around the sunroof, all to allow the head lining to drop down and allow you to access the screws plus the electrical connection plug & socket ... via the sunroof cut out in the head lining.
The amount u will have to pull down head lining will depend on how big your hands are in the little space that u have between the head lining which is still there and the motor:D

here's a good advice from other forum
If you prise out the sunroof switch there is a pozi head screw that holds the whole thing to the roof. Undo it but whatever you do don't try to pull the plastic panel away from the headlining. You can pull down the panel and headlining enough to get a short hex head screwdriver in to undo the three bolts holding the motor in.

Trying to remove the panel results in broken pins as you can't get to the nuts very easily.

The lining goes back nicely afterwards when you do screw it back up.
