Td5 rear crossmember on tdi chassis

Hi all, sorry if this subject has been covered before, but i have done a search on here and can't find a definitive answer. Anyway I am looking on t'interweb for a new galv chassis for my 90 tdi. I was preferring one that only comes with a td5 crossmember, as i prefer the tidier look of not having the "tabs" on show attaching the tub to crossmember but have seen quite a few comments that the td5 xmember is not as substantial as the older but correct, tdi type. During the rebuild I was hoping to fit a td5 tub with rear mounted tank and gain extra storage under the offside seatbox. Any input would be great, thanks in advance

Surely the benefit of having the rear mounted tank and extra space will out weigh having a less substantial cross member. You could also have two fuel tanks if you're doing long distance!
