TD5 Pull off problems

I have a 2000 TD5 ever since I have had this car going on 4 years it struggles to pull off in high ratio,
I have done many things to the vehicle, New ECU, new Injectors, new internal Injector harness, Cyl Head Recond, changed Turbo, Throttle pedal change, unichip,new crank sensor, some more too numerous to mention, It starts and runs perfectly and goes very well other than that.
I happened to drive a not so well kept one the other day and it drove perfectly. I wish I could overcome this problem to make a brilliant vehicle perfect. can anyone help?

generally it's the air flow meter at fault which causes hesitancy when pulling out, if you disconnect the sensor wire and it doesnt make it worse then your air fow meter needs changing, buy a genuine LR one as the copies dont seem to last to long.

Is it manual or autobox?

Hi Guys
Thanks for the imput I changed the Air mass meter last week, no change, I have already removed the EGR completely and removed the valve out of the pipe. lastly its a manual.

Is the MAF the 'thin wire in a tube' connected to the air filter?, as im gonna check mine out now if it is. What sort of cost are these then?

Springbok, has yours been fully serviced oils / filters etc ?

The MAF is situated on the airbox. It has a electrical connection on it and is that tube with the wire in that you mentioned. They cost approx £80 from a land rover dealer, although there are cheaper ones on ebay but apparently they dont last too long.

My Disco is fully serviced since I have owned it. it has done 244000kms I got it at 160000kms

Hi Ray, if your vehicle drives well in every other way I'm trying to analyse what could be giving you this sense of poor pulling away.

Could it be anything in the clutch system? There is a sensor on there which sends signals to the ECU, could that be at fault?

Is your handbrake or indeed any of the brakes dragging?

Has this got anything to do with the well-known low power at low revs problem? Below 2000rpm there is a hole in the fuelling map which means you needs to rev a std TD5 more than you might otherwise want to do?

Incidently, this hole can be effectively cured by a remap of the ECU chip - just for future reference.

I think the sensor you are referring to is the crank position sensor on the fly wheel that and the clutch and the flywheel have all been changed, I have got a plug and play unichip installed which helped but did not cure the problem, Some of the guys mentioned the air flow meter which I swapped which changed nothing, I am now going to disconnect this meter and see if anything changes,if it doesnt its more likely to be a wireing problem to that meter, if thats the case its easy to fix, Ray
