Couple of issues with my TD5

1. for a while now, i have been having issues with the revs on my car. it will rev upto 3000 and then will stick at that and wont go beyond and if i keep the revs stable the rev counters jumps from 3000 to 2000 then back to 3000 and the only way i can sort it is by letting off and building the revs up gradually but will stop at 3000 again unless i am really gentle then it may go by that. the only thing i did before that was change the intercooler for a bigger one cause my one was split but that cant be anything to do with it.

2. The problem i have now, is that i have had a bad batch of diesel from a garage beginning with 'T' and will probably be your second guess, not the obvious one!! The car started running like it was missing, very rocky and a lack of power but when you switch off the engine and restart it can be ok all day or for 5 seconds. There was a lot of water in the diesel even though the light didnt come on on the dash! drained the tank of what i could but still running bad, could still be quite a bit of water in the tank or system.

So as you can imagine with both problems happening at the same time, my car is an absolute joy to drive at the moment!!

Any help or ideas would be extremely grateful!! Thanks

Are you sure that you have a water sensor fitted to the bottom of your fuel filter? If so is it plugged in? If not would explain why water in fuel light never came on. Seen loads of people replace their fuel filter and forget to swap over the water sensor or plug it back in. Replacement filters come with a drain plug only which needs to be removed before the sensor can be fitted in its place.

The TD5 generates a lot of heat in the fuel so any water will boil and turn to steam causing all sorts of issues. So long as you have water in the fuel you will have problems.
Half draining the tank of water is next to useless as a little water goes a long way.

Are you sure your intercooler hoses are not leaking? You may not be getting full or any turbo boost. The TD5 without its turbo is gutless beyond belief.
