I just think I'm getting somewhere then something else crops up! Driving to work this morning and pulled out of a junction and the engine light came on and now power. Seemed like it overboosted however there is no overboost fault, just "15,2 High Speed Crank (logged)". Got it in the workshop and revved it up stationary and bang, same again and it was idling VERY rough. This happened at around 2000rpm. Switch off and start it again and it idles fine
The crank fault suggests a faulty CPS, however the fact it only does it at higher revs confuses me.

replace the CPS to rule it out cos it can fail in many ways but make sure that the connector is in good shape cos it used to have loosened contacts too

Ok so I’ve took mine off and found a spare one on an old bellhousing. Mine is the one on the right

Update: the "other" crank position sensor has worked! I'll get some genuine ones ordered
