Just been on a run towing with the disco 150 miles, as a change from the usual local stuff and checked the oil level before and after. There was no oil used, but the oil on the dipstick was much cleaner after the run? Is this a tribute to the oil rotor system, and does it need a good blast to work effectively? Quite amazing result, seems incredible.

I would say that the symptom you describe is not normal.

I would be keeping a VERY close eye on the oil level on the dipstick. Make sure when you go to check it, that you have parked level and the engine is at the same temp each time ie hot or cold.

IMO it's normal, check again after it cools down well and only if it will seem as clean as when the engine was hot after a long run then it's strange... the oil becomes thinner when it's hot also the deposits are mixed with all the oil after a run but they are all going to the bottom after a rest
