Hi All
Well basically today was my first day with my dad's 02 reg discovery and decided to do a bit of greenlaining in conditions i would describe as no more than a wet field, so nothing really. It has been sat for about a month now and stupidly not been started all month. Anyway got it home yesterday started fine ran fine. Went out in it today, started fine ran fine. Tank was between a quarter full and empty so went and filled it up and headed off to do a bit of green laining. Spent about an hour greenlaining then decided to head home, got on to the road put by foot down and it died. So started it again and struggled to start, reved it up to about 2000 revs took for ever to get there then died again, after that wouldn't start again. Got loads of fuel and the conditions should not have effected it at all, my mates p reg terrano managed it fine, so he had to tow me home, bit embarrassing, but hey what can you do. Has anyone ever heard of or had this problem, anyone know what it could be? Any help would be most appreciated, thanks Dan

Ok bit of an update the fuel pump is priming, I've done the start up procedure a couple of times and still no joy. It's turning over and smoking, tried to go a few times and then just went back to turning over. Dad said today that it been sat for more like 4 months, has got fsh, but was last serviced 15000 miles ago. so any clues? i thinking that a garage is the way. I will check the fuel pressure regulator but as far as i can see there doesn't seem to be any leakages in the engine bay. Cheers Dan

Well i've spoken to a landrover specialist and he said 9 time out of 10 its the engine wiring harness. He told me to check the plugs in the ECU to see if there is any oil on them and to check the plug on the head as well. So checked them and they were covered in oil, apparently quite a common problem. So cleaned them up and still won't go so it's looking like i'm gonna have to fork out for a new engine harness. Anyone know of where to find them and what sort of price i'll be looking at? I've found some, the best price i can find is £150. Does this sound about right? Cheers Dan

They are only £40. It is the injector harness that you are after. You need to clean all the oil out the harness, plugs and possibly ecu. It is caused by a seal failing under the rocker cover and oil tracking down the wiring harness.
