Have had my Disco manual TD5 ( 100k on clock) for just over a month now and am amazed at the lack of pulling power under 1400 revs. If I'm on the flat it will slowly pick up but any incline at all means changing down. Being this is the only 1 I've driven I was wondering if this is normal, if not has anyone got any advice as to what the possible cause may be. My last vehicle was a Volvo V70. 02 reg, 214k, and although perhaps about 1 tonne lighter than the Disco went like stink and would accellerate quite rapidly even in top gear from 1000 revs.

ive taken egr off and it pulls like a train its also worth cleaning map sensor check air filter etc they all play a part

as said above, an clean out intercooler, but a lot of td5 are until turbo pulls in about 2500rpm

if all is well with the engine, have it re-mapped makes a huge difference bringing the power in a lot lower down the rev range, had mine done by DYNACHIP,

stil got to do a few upgrades with mine, but u still av ta rev it like a tuning fork outta junctions otherwise ya tarmaced!

Giving the Mass Air Flow sensor element a spray with contact cleaner can make a difference, as can a clean of the sensor in the lid of the air box.

When I feel my car is holding back a bit in 2nd I get the contact cleaner out and the car then revs out much better.

There is a chance that the MAF could be toast, and a new one required. A diagnostic session would confirm this.

Agree that the MAP sensor on the inlet manifold can also be gunged up affecting performance.

Make sure the turbo wastegate arm is free to move.

Has the fuel filter and air filter been renewed recently?
