Hi I wonder could any one help me. I have a 99 TD5 disco with 120K on the clock. It suddenly developed a misfire that would clear itself above 2.5K revs. But from idle to 2.5K it feels like it is running on 4. I intially thought it was a bad tank of diesel (i had just filled up), but wasnt and i subsequently changed the fuel pump but the problem is still there. I can drive from a cold start for about 10 mins and it is ok but then the miss will come in again. Even starting hot it might take 30 secs for it to develop. I have also checked the injector loom wiring back to the ECU, there was alot of oil present in the red plug at the ECU and at the plug up at the rocker cover, i cleaned both out but I still have the problem. Any other ideas before I bring it to a dealer??

change the injector loom as a start,, if its still there you need at least a code read to try and find out if there is any other showing faults..

Sounds to me as if you need a new injector. Mine had exactley the same problem. I had it replaced last week and it sorted the problem immediatley. The whole job cost me £600.

Hi hope this helps, I had a miss fire feeling on my 03 td5 went to a local diesel experts. Had all the usual checks done found that the turbo waste gate controller had gone, its an electrical thingy just on the right hand side of the turbo. About £80.00 for diagnosis + part and fitted, this was about a year ago had no problems since.

i had a misfire on my td5 when the engine warmed up it really lacked in power, no engine manage light had come on!
i changed the injector wiring loom and it solved the problem, i purchsed it off ebay shop

I had the same problem with my disco, change the injector harness, that will cure the problem. And she will run a lot sweeter too, they say you should change it at about every 30,000 miles, they get contaminated with oil.

carling is right it sounds like turbo over boost and can be caused buy the waste gate controler or a sticking waste gate see if the waste gate moves you will need to use a pair if pliers because the actuator makes it difficult to move

new ones are modified so "shouldnt" need changing.

Get it plugged in first-there are so many things it could be.
Careful you dont start with the cheapest first scenario cos youll be there forever & out of pocket!

had what felt like miss on mine at about 2000 revs took to land rover specialist and said it was to do with the auto gearbox, but could go on for long time with no problem so don't worry for now

I had a similar problem so I changed out the Injector Wiring Harness, the problem is now solved.
