Hi guys, my disco 2 has low power until 2200rpm im guessing its when the turbo starts boosting fully. Its painfully sluggish below 2200rpm. Was wondering if anyone has any ideas have tried:-

Cleaned MAF sensor
Cleaned MAP sensor
Cleaned AAP sensor
Checked pipes for boost leaks

Im guessing the next step is live diagnostics, unless anyone has any other ideas for me to try

Thanks

Matt

Mine was a bit different in that revs were "stuttering" at about 2500. Stripped the wastegate out (very easy to do), freed it off and lubricated with high temperature spray. WD40 will just burn away. Worked for me. Part of my routine maintenance now.

just a update, have been out for a trial drive tonight, left home and unplugged both the MAF and AAP sensors, i thought that it pulled harder then before, so i plugged in just the AAP sensor, went very gutless, nearly worse than before. So i unplugged the AAP and plugged in the MAP sensor tried driving again, still gutless, so it doesnt really rule out either sensor so im well confused now!

I was going to say if you are new to the car that they are all gutless until the turbo comes in. LR had a cheek selling them like that. If you ever get it remapped you will see the difference the software can make.

I know this has been covered on here a million times before, would everyone recommend decat? Also who is the best price/torque different for a new map? I wouldn't need power high up the range, just low down grunt is needed.

A re-map by a reputable service transforms the motor quite literally. I've had this done on 3 of my TD5's and it is well worth the money.

I use a chap called Mike at Dynachip tuning and he charges £225-250 depending on the age of the vehicle. std TD5 is 138bhp and about 200ft/lbs of torque. After remap: 155bhp and more importantly 250ft/lbs of torque.

He will tune it however you want but I was after more low down grunt. Before I was revving the proverbials off mine now I can run around at 1500 -2750rpm. They seem better on fuel as well.

Mike comes to you, gives your car a health check before re-mapping and is a thoroughly nice guy.

Cheers
Dave
PS Do the De-cat ! And if you haven't already done it, do the De-EGR thing as well.
