TD5 left standing what to look for on purchase

I've been looking for a TD5 since we sold our Freelander. A freind has told me about a TD5 that has been standing since Dec 2011 at least, when it's owner had a stroke. What should I look for in a TD5 that has been standing for 6 Months at least. Besides a flat battery!

Joking aside, I rekon thats about all you,ll need to look out for !.

I dont think a 6 month stint of inactivity will do any harm to most motors. Battery may well be flat, which can cause problems with some electrical systems, but othet than that, you just need to look out for all the other usual stuff with these cars.

I was wondering about the air suspension etc. I will try to start it to get it on the trailler but I suspect that the price will go up if I get it running!!

At least (if it has air suspension) you'll know if the bags / valves are leaking as it will be well down at the back.

also the disks will be rusty which is not a big deal just remember 1st time you brake (maybe its worse coz I live by the sea), when my old beemer had been standing this triggered the ABS light to come on but after a few more miles of cleaning the rust off and a restart the problem went.

it may look good down the left side of the car but give the chassis a good poke and look for swollen parts could be very expensive , i looked and my one one i bought it looked good untill i shanged the springs and had parts of the rear chassis which holds the shock on fall apart and further back looked good till i saw swollen metal hit it and it fell apart have a good look dont be afraid to hit ot poke things with a screwdriver after all its going to be your car at the end of the day , i say left side of the car to because when it rains thats the side thats always in the water on the side of the road and will be worse than the right for rust
