Thats where your fuel filter is (well it is on a defender anyhow). Check it hasn't come loose which is quite common. Also check the drain off valve on the bottom and the pipes into the top.

Yeah, its where the fuel fiter is. how much is coming out? mine has leaked for over a year now (leaving small stains on the drive!). I've changed the filter twice and the water seonsor/o-rings but it still leaks!

where is yours leaking from? If it is from the bottom, try removing the water sensor and fitting a standard drain valve. I have never had a problem on mine since doing this.

I have also had an issue where the fuel filter leaked...turned out the garage I used for a service had left the old rubber seal on the car, and added the new filter...so I had two rubber seals...leaked. Simply unscrewing the filter, removing the old rubber seal and re-tightening cured it. I also had a split runner hose (must have been something kicked-up and scarring the hose). LR fixed that under warranty.

Clean the area, take a look to find out where the leak is coming from, it shouldn't be difficult...

thanks all i had a split fuel pipe just as it runs along the chassis i lost 1/2 a t ank but cured it by a push fit connecter similar to a plumbers fitting now ive got ahigh pitched wine from the fuel pump could this be air and how do i cure this thanks for your help arv

high pitched whine is normally the fuel pump on its way out. to purge the system turn on the ignition and pump the accel peddal 5 times. the engine management light will start flashing. lt can take a few mins to purge any air out of the system

would it help to fill the tank, maybe it will push the air out thanks. arv

Hi all, I have just bought my first TD5 ES. The last owner gave me a range rover hand book insted of a TD5 one. I am therefore not sure of a few things, Please help. I can not find the fuel filter, I think it is under the near side next to the fuel tank. The front sun roof does not work or the drivers heated seat. I do not know what no. fuse to look for, any advise is very welcome. I am also looking for side steps, any tips also welcome. Thanks. Mike.

i have tried all the above but still the same noise any more things icould try thanks arv

Our pump got noisy when the washers on the injectors started going, ended up with poor starting and then cutting out every mile or so.
Had the washers changed and oil / filters changed (diesel leaks into oil) and now our pump is silent.
