Hi Munchies, replacing U/j's on the prop is a VERY straightforward job you could easily do yourself.

If you dip the clutch you cut the drive through the propshafts, so it will unload them.

As thebiglad suggests go for the easy option first. Up on couple of (strong) ramps, and look at, pull n tug at, the drive shafts. If no play then start worrying about other things.

hi i hav had a friend who is good mechanic look at it and he reckons its defo the ujs so thanks lads. i asked him would he change it and he said no its to awkward. the prop that has gone was bought new about 1 and a half yers ago because another friend attempted to do it and bust the double joint with the bearings in when he was gettin the ujs out. as i was there it has put me off doing it incase i wreck the double joint and it costs me another prop but i hav the new ujs from last time.has anyone in liverpool ever used a1 propshaft was going to drop it in to them to change. o the worry that has gone thro my head about fitting new gearboxes ha ha.one last thing could i do the wayfarer in my disco with road tyres on ta

been to get me propshaft ujs replaced today at a propshaft garage. when he has looked at it he said its the bearing that hav gone in the double joint of the prop. cant beliveie how quick its gone it was a new 12 months ago so i now hav 2 in the shed and a new prop need to find the bearing to fix it but no one supplies the bearing.anyone else had this happen

Bearing is available on its own - I repaired mine last year and got the bearing off ebay .
They are also available from the US - thats where I came across them first .
Fitting the bearing and UJ's is a bit tricky but I did it all at home - no special tools needed other than a vice .
Will see if I can track them down and will post back .

Found one : Go to www.jgs4x4.co.uk and look for Discovery 2 front propshaft centre bearing - about £35 .
