Right I've been searching for over an hour to try and find an answer to this but not had any joy. Does anybody have the correct part number for the heater box to bulkhead seal for a heater from a td5. I bought STC952 and it in no way, shape or form fits. Any help from anyone would stop me pulling my hair out!

Given that it's too big, you could just trim it to fit. It would then likely be better than the standard part. Last time I had the heater box off I ditched the original (same as yours) and made a better one from camping mat.

My old heater box, JEC001040 has only one angled corner on the other side of the box to the pipe connections and it does not have the metal folded over like that.

Cheers

looks like STC952 is the correct one for a RHD. what is the heater box part number you are you using?

Cheers

Not sure, it came off a td5 bulkhead I bought. Do you know if it's stamped on the box anywhere?

Sounds like a good plan. Don't suppose you have any pics of how you done it?
Cheers.

No pictures, sorry. But looking at your picture, you could just cut a piece of camping mat the same size as the heater outlet, then cut out the inner so you're left with what looks like a thick gasket., and glue it onto the outer edge of the heater box where it meets the bulkhead. TBH, it would be at least as good as the factory item.

Think I'm gonna give this a go as I can't find a part number for a seal. I've got some thick closed cell foam I made the gaskets for the pedal boxes out off.

How much of a job is it to change this part?

Not too bad. It's four bolts, 2 pipes and two cables. There is a video on YouTube that explains how to do it perfectly.

Just thought I'd update this thread in case anyone else encounters this problem. Took the advise of zeaphod and made my own seal. Basically I got some 2 inch by 1/2 inch thick sticky back closed cell foam rubber and cut it half and stuck if to the face of the heater box. Once it was mounted up on the bulkhead it squished up nicely and formed a really good seal.
