I seem to have a strange spec on the Td5 GS 7 seater I just bought.

It's a 2000 W plate and hasn't got aircon but does have ACE. I thought ACE was only available on higher spec models?

I bought the car from Roger's of Bedford and just wanted to say what a great company to deal with.

Mine's a 1999 TD5 GS 5 seater - ACE but coil springs and no aircon.

ACE is active conering enhancement and nothing to do with rear air,it was a option on all of the d2's and not standard fitment.
Look I'm sorry I mentioned the s...ing springs. Let's go with the original question. Yes ACE and no aircon is quite normal for an early GS. As stated above, the ACE is an optional fitment. It can also cost you loads of money if it goes wrong - if that red light comes on DON'T try to drive it.

What is the deal with trying to drive it with the red light on? What will happen?

I'm just thinking of the 'get home' scenario if it fails. I will be using my TD5 to tow my boat a few hundred miles on holiday.

Cheers

What happened when a nameless person borrowed mine and the ACE went is :
Red light came on.
With a chiming noise.
ACE fluid emptied all over road.
Person topped up fluid and drove on.
Chiming noise stopped.
Eventually parked up and a few hours later machine refused to start.
Towed to LR dealer who replaced ACE and PS pumps and charged a large amount of money (can't remember how much - can't find the bill but it was A LOT) AND did the job so badly that one of the drive pulleys fell off on my next long run.

OK, probably not quite as bad for you, but when the handbook says don't drive it in this condition it MEANS it!

Just found that bill from H R Owen. £1877.97.
