I've owned my Disco TD5 GS 5 Seat for 124k miles, and 6 years (from new - I am the only owner). I'm thinking of saying goodbye to the much-loved zambezi-silver machine...

The reason for this thread is two-fold:
1. What's it worth?
2. Interest check (no-one ever searches the "for sale" column)?

It's a great example, which drives and looks far better than the mileage would suggest, with FSH and all problems (even minor) sorted. If you search the threads in here, you will find the full history of the car.

The first 100k miles data is here:
Experience of 100,000 miles in a Disco2 TD5

Main items replaced since 100,000 miles:
1. A few oil seals (no big deal) replaced, reciepts available.
2. New clutch and flywheel (actually the clutch was not worn out, but the flywheel had developed some loose play!)

Servicing history is full and complete, with top-quality synthetic oil used throughout.

Last MOT had the car showing less than .3 emissions, out of a max of 3 (i.e. it runs clean, with approx. 1 litre oil top-ups between 12k services).

BFG AT's ~50% worn, original spare untouched.
Side-steps
Towing bracket
Side-rubbing strips
Waxoyled
Tidy body & paint, no major marks

MOT & Tax to March 09.

Disclosure: It has a VERY minor coolant leak, which is due to get sorted.

If you're interested, I am planning to stay with Land Rover, so will still be on this forum!

What do you think? Any questions? What's it worth?

Yes, I have managed to get £6k off a dealer without much haggling (and still get a discount on the new vehicle). Would rather sell private. A car this age & milage won't stay on the forecourt at a main LR dealer, they'll auction it, and it'll crop up in a second-hand-car-dealer for around £8k I guess.

Would rather get a decent deal private then everyone wins (except the "second-hand-car-dealer").

been trying to work out what mine is worth also,2001 td5 es auto, full cream leather,front/rear aircon, cruise control, also got 20" storma alloys fitted and chrome side steps at a cost of £1000, got mine in dec 07 cost was £9995 [ put wheels/steps on jan 08 ],mine has just turned 100k would be happy to get around £8000 for it.

I reckon you are all a bit optimistic. I just bought a 2002 TD5 manual, aircon, 5 seat (so no air suspension), ACE, 110K, 11months MOT, service history with main dealers to 75K then DIY but with receipts. £4600.:)

Yep I'd agree with that. Prices of all 4x4's are dropping fast and people need to wake upto this fact. Gone are the days of landrovers holding their values for years and years. not that TD5 Discos, have ever been that good at holding their residual value anyway.

I'd say stick it on ebay with a reserve just above the trade-in price you've been given. If it doesn't go then the trade-in sounds reasonably fair to me (and a lot less hassle than selling privately).
I asked for pricing advice on here when selling my old 300Tdi and got the same kind of answers as above.
I cleaned it up and took some good photos for the ad and I got alot of interest and a fair bit more for it than anyone on here suggested.
