Td5 fusebox - can they be 'swopped'

A friend has a year 2000 Td5 and it appears the fusebox has a big problem due to dampness ( Disco parked up for 2 months ).
He has located a SH fusebox but would like to know if :
(a) the fusebox has to be programmed in to the Disco in some way and if so is it a main dlr job -he has a Launch X431 himself ;
(b) is fitting a SH unit risky - main dlr has quoted €400 for new one .
Any advice appreciated .

the fuse box had the integrated IDM (Intelligent Drivers Module) which controls the instrument pack dials etc.

the IDM needs to talk to the Body Control Unit.

The rave manual states that if the connection between IDM and BCU is broken, it can be restored by turning the ignition to pos2 and waiting for 5 mins.

Think you might find problems with getting fobs etc to work,which unless you have the barcodes for each key to input with Testbook it wont work.Be interested to know if it does work.
