Hi
The high pressure side fuel line has come out of the pump on my discovery 2
could this be a fault with the pump or due to the failure of another component

Hi, have you tried placing it back on to the pump to see if works again!

Genuine question! (Not taking the Micheal)
As the non-return valve may be at fault? (Should be less than £20 if need to get one!)

Hi, you have to investigate in situ, the problem can be only there, a crack in the port or the clip is loosen or wasnt pushed enough from the start or something

Part has on inside of the pump between where pipe goes in and O ring

If it's been done before (or faulty/chafed HP line accessed) then the carpet will have already been pulled back, so should be fairly easy to access the second time around - no need to remove trims - just push carpet back.

Seems that the price of VDO went mad, i bought genuine LR(made also by VDO) for that price about 10 years ago, IMO worth a try with other premium brands like Stark https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/stark/8054339 , i fitted theyr's pump on my hyundai santa fe 5 years ago and still running well so if the Td5 fails i'll certainly try that pump rather than pay exagerated price for a VDO

Currently 600AUD (343GBP) for the VDO fuel pump here in Australia! Land Rover Genuine = 790AUD (452GBP)!

FYI if you have the 7 seater you can neatly cut the carpet to access the fuel pump and hide / secure the cut under the plastic trims on the floor around the rear seat anchor points. I did this after struggling with the recommended trim and carpet removal. It does leave a slit across the rear cabin between the seat anchor points, bur I have A fitted mat that goes over the original carpet.
