Hi All

I have a 2003 TD5 GS (with loads of extras) Discovery that currently does not have the round front fog lights in the bumper - not sure why as all the late model TD5s I have seen have this configuration. Also, it has a washer bottle with 3 pumps and the headlamp one bocked off with a piece of hose, a bolt and some hose clips!!!! but no headlamp washer jets in the bumper end caps!!!

However, I have bought the relevant bits and have stripped the bumper back to fit them - my problem is I was led to believe that the wiring harness was ready just to plug in - but I can't find any connectors.

I do know the car has had a repaint at some point and I believe that due to the shocking paint work on the bumper end caps they are not the originals

My question(s) to the forum is/are:
1. has any one done this conversion, if so, how did you get the lights working
2. Would LR really produce 2 different wiring harnesses

Any pointers in the right direction would be extremely helpful

Cheers

Dave

I wish you'd posted before you got the bits. I've got the jets and some tubing here!

Two possibilities exist. Either your car is a late registered earlier one if that makes sense. I did see a white one on e bay recently,

Or as you say it has had a paint job, the car has been repaired using an earlier bumper.

It is entirely possible that you have a vehicle with an earlier build date. Check the VIN and see which year it was made.

.......and as far as i know the fog lights are also programmable from BCU(check this out coz even if u wire them u have to make certain they are enabled)

Correct and you should find the wiring there, the plugs are normally fitted to the bottom of the flat panel "under" the headlights

Hi Dave, you car hasn't been fitted with an aftermarket bumper has it, because it seems most strange that you don't have headlamp washers on the bumper?

Hi Dave

I'm not sure, what I do know is that it has been repaired at some point (chap I bought if off did all the work on it) it lost an argument with a tree on the rear quarter so I know its had some panel replacement, however, not sure about the front end, although the state of the paint on the bumper end caps have been replaced or painted badly! Under neath them every thing looks as it should be apart from the washer bottle with a blocked off headlamp washer pump - so I think when it was new it had them but were never replaced when the car was repaired - doesn't make sense though as the bumper end caps are the same price with or without fog lamp holes! Also, this car whilst having a working life was maintained impecably without any regard to cost so to do it on the cheap doenst make sense either.

I think I may contact LR to see what it left the factory as - as the other mystery is the vin plate says the car is epsom green rather than alverston red!!!

Hi Dave, that last bit sounds a bit strange - have you checked the engine and chassis numbers and compared them with what is on the VIN plate and V5?

The chassis number is located just in front of the drivers (rh) side front wheel.
