The CD Changer/head unit in my 2001 TD5 Es has all of a sudden started telling me that there are no discs inserted. I was quite happily listening to a CD and decided to skip onto the next one and the head unit said "no disc".
I have tried switching ignition on/off, taking out the disc cartridge and replacing but it says "disc check.....no disc"
Any ideas??

Try re-arranging the cds in the cartridge. Try cleaning the pickup and lens with a cleaning disk.

Otherwise it could be bad news with the processor chip in the player packing up.

OK I've re-arranged the discs but to no avail. I will try the cleaning disc but how will that work if the the changer is constantly saying "no disc" Does the cleaner have some sort of encryption so that the player knows its not a music cd?

Infact it maybe a music disc, it could have background music on it, it may also have a voice over instructions on it. The basic disc just has a thin brush fitted to it to clean the lens the more expensive disc's come with a cleaning kit. Have a look in Maplins.
