TD5 Engine - Mysterious hole....

Hi all,

Was lying unerneath the engine of my Disco II TD5 at the weekend scoping acces for the forthcoming service which I intend to do myself when I noticed a threaded hole approx 10mm across to the left of the sump plug (about 10cm away). This was with my feet to the front of the car.

The thread looked pretty clean as if something should be bolted there. Just blackness beyond the hole and no evidenceof anything leaking out of it.

Anyone know what this is?

Possibly the wading plug?

yep it does sound like the wading plug only fit it if you are going in deep water
