right from having my car sorted after the frost epidemic it is loosing coolant from somewhere =/ and is starting to wick me off from driving about 200 miles my header tank is empty but my car has stayed cool, the garage had asked me to keep an eye on the tank to see if it is loosing water. any ideas where it could be leaking from im starting to concern that it is my cylinder head that has cracked =/.

cheers dave.

get a sniff test done on your coolant, most garages will be able to do it for you and it only takes a couple of minuets. That should tell you if you are putting any cylinder gases into your coolant system.

went out in a run in it, seems like it has no power foot down in 3rd just means black smoke and 30mph =/ its chipped up heavily... should be doing 60 atleast with the disco transfer box =/ :S

I have same problem. Had it for weeks and cant find the problem. Loosing coolant. Engine not over heating. And also heating not working. Are you loosing coolant when the motors sat on the driveway?

My TD5 110 suddenly started losing small amounts of coolant during the recent snow. It turned out to be the bottom hose leaking at the jubilee clip. I switched the clip for a screw type one and all seems fine again now.

Expansion cap failure is pretty common on TD5's though. I carry a spare onboard just in case.

mine did this, rad was split at the bottom.... as there was no water in rad it never showed temp getting high

cost me a head gasket and skimmed head, luckly head didnt crack

there can be lots of places it could be leaking from, it may be evapourating staright away. Do you have anti freeze in it? Look for staining? I found a little leak from the clips where the heater in/out pipes went. Only found it due to the stains.

Also just change the cap, will only cost a few £, and check all hoses.
