Just a thought - is there any point in moving the ECU on a TD5 if the fuse box stays in place below the dash??

I know that the ECU is currently lower than the fuse box and repositioning the ECU would mean that the the ECU is more protected, but I am right in assuming that if the fuse box gets flooded you aint going to be moving very far anyway????

So if you reposition the ECU, should you also be repositioning the fuse box at the same time and is this easy to do????

I would think it is still a good idea, dont forget there is also another fuse box & some relays under the seat with the ecu.

In my 300 tdi 90 I had water half way up the windscreen inside & it was still running, I would hope my TD5 90 would do the same if the ecu was inside the roof lining, I reckon the fuse boxes will withstand being under water as will the relays so long as you keep the engine running, if it cuts out & the relays disengage id be surprised if you could get it going again, if you're in that sort of situation as long as it runs a few seconds enough to get you out then that is good enough for me, I can fix it once it's out of the water !

OK, that wasn't the answer I was expecting, but sounds good :)

So next question, where can you buy an ECU extension wire that dosen't cost silly money :confused:

I can vouch for MHM's leads. As he said they took a long time to get right.

I've been wondering if the throttle pedal pot is waterproof too - its pretty low down isn't it?

You can buy a spare throttle pot for a few quid on ebay. I carry a spare one around in my TD5 110 and Buckshot used to carry one spare in his TD5 90 too.

Both myself and Buckshot have been wading with water over the bonnet and neither of us has had an issue yet. The ballast does get arsey whenever I fill my dash up with water though.:D

Cheers MHM, I'll PM you when I have the funds :D:D

Am I right in assuming that the extension lead just plugs onto the connectctor on the end of the existing cable under the seat?
