TD5 ECM (under seat) help required

I had a couple of alternative ideas as there is plenty of other electrics to suffer in the under seat boxes and I for one wouldn't fiddle with the wiring owing to the increasing susceptability to interference and resistance losses at the connectors:

Not if it is done properly ;)

Dont think that would work - ECM's dont like being cut in half to fit in boxes;).

got myself an ECM now - so dont need sizes thanks - mind yu, box to fit the ECM in is pretty expensive :(.

I dunno. I fitted a box (about A3 size and about 5" deep) to my truck to house all my strobe power supplies when wading. That was only about £25. It's a plastic electrical box with conduit encased wires leading into waterproof glands. The conduit was the most expensive part.

neither does that one, Ratty  - it needs to have a minimum internal size of 225mm * 275mm * 60mm and a maximum outside thickness of 100mm, as waterproof as practical and as cheap as possible.

I used it for demonstration purposes only.:p It was to show you what type I have fitted to my truck. I have one that is mounted between my chassis rails, one in my beacon bar and another by the hydraulic valves. The one by the valves and the one between the chassis rails have been submerged many a time and are still water tight.

They are readily available in lots of differents sizes. The only problems that i have encountered is that I cracked one when I overtightened the mounting screws. I also had a gland fail on the large one. I have stopped this happening again by adding sealer at the time of compressing. This helps grip the conduit better.

How about mounting the box to the back of the cubby box instead of the bulkhead? I'm pretty sure there will be more space there.

Yup the early ones had a square ECM - the later ones have plastic. I am not even considering the later types at the mo, until the system is proven. I am not yet convinced.
