Hi folks

Just bought my first disco having been a Jeep owner for a few years. TD5, manual, A/C, coil spings (not air), ACE, 2002, 110,000 miles, two owners, dealer history to 75K then owner/private service. MOT'd in January (3,000 miles since) and had advisory notice on anti roll bar bushes and track rod ends. She has two problems.
1. Knock on steering (probably due to advisory issues)
2. Strange vibration that is vehicle speed related (not engine speed related). Comes in at 58 mph (tomtom) and disappears at 68 mph. More noticeable under load than on overrun. Does not feel like out of balance wheel/tyre, too high frequency. She has newish BF Goodrich A/T tyres, and had front propshaft U/Js replaced at last serviice 3,500 miles ago.
Any ideas as to what could be causing the vibes? Many thanks LeDisco

re: Knock - check the nearside front anti roll bar bush by waggling the bar, the ace has a tendancy to wear it out and when the ace kicks in it will knock. £5 and 20mins to change... easy job!!

I have a 01 Td5 with 176K on the clock and over the past few weeks I occasionally noticed a vibration between 50 - 55 mph .
I checked out UJ's . rubber doughnut etc a few times but everything seemed fine .
Last week when I started up one morning there was a very noticeable vibration and it could also be felt through the clutch pedal - and it didn't go away .
I am now in the process of taking out the engine as I feel the problem is the dual mass flywheel - and that the earlier vibrations were caused by the DMF in the early stages of failure .
I had come across them failing in cars - usually a rattle on tickover and also plenty of brown dust which sometimes causes starter failure .

Ok guys seems like the ARB bushes are the likely culprit for the knock. Any other ideas on the vibration ? ta very much
