hi all didnt think id be back here but still got the disco and have a hydraulic leak on the rear ace pipes im planning on replaceing these myself but im unsure where to start other than just removing everything and bolting back on
Q.is there an order of removal and refit ?

Q.how to bleed the system when installed ?

Q.whats the best fluid to replace lost?

any help mucho appreciated

cheers
sibbo

1. Start from the actuator ...it'll be easyer to pull out the pipe from the valve block.....order new seal too(or get hold of proper orings for the old one)

2. go for a ride with plenty of cornering and it'll bleed itself(unless have a dedicated tester)

3. the best is the original green LR PAS fluid....if u are short of money some cheaper transmission fluid will do it too(e.g ATF Dexron).

Hi Sibbo, the hardest part of the job is getting the pipes into position. They are a push fit into the valve block but the seals have a habbit of shredding if the pipe is not dead straight as it goes in. At £20 per pipe not a cheap problem. They can be put on to the pipe and then inserted, you have to do both pipes at the same time and make sure the white plastic holder goes in firmly. Also at the actuator end there are 2 banjo washers on each connection, make sure you replace all, they should come with the pipes. While you've got the system in bits it may be worth changing the actuator rubber dust cover. They do split so a new one wouldn't go amis, I think there is one at the back. I've just replaced some front pipes and the dust cover on mine, oh what a fun job !!!

cheers guys will start the job tomorrow night take em off that is then will see if i can m/c a better fixing? using stainless pipe and proper connectors will let u all know how i get on and maybe put some piccs on if i manage to do it as £230 quid for pipes is shall we say drop yer pants ???? time lol

it's a bit of a job getting the old pipe out, but possible if you find the right way of un-knitting it.

be careful and inspect all clearences when you replace it, a simple spacer washer on the wrong side of the fixing tab caused the pipe to wear through and leak in the first place.

Why not just bin the ACE - it costs around £380 for a full mechanical replacement which is an easy fix. search for the string entitled `binning the ACE'

that wot i am doing now,its just to damn expensive to repair and as soon as you fix one leek it starts somwhere else so i,m takein it all off and fitting an aftermarket kit. no more worrys then.

cheers guys thanks for your feed back but.... be aware taking things off your disco means its modified and your insurance company might not like this i asked about putting springs on instead of air bags and they said NO.... as its insured for 7 seats it has to be std ....SO BE WARNED....

Stupid question. Is ACE standard fit ? or an addon. How do I tell if I have it or not.

Apols im a newbie so i thought id just ask out-right.

Just done that on mine, its just to costly to fix when it gets "old". Don't miss it all tbh either, its less than £380 to replace it with standard roll bars, more like £260 ish....

Land Rover sell Springs for 7 seaters, so if you want to "bin" the air, do it with factory parts and your insurance company has no arguement tbh.

On a side note, ACE is different as it was an "option" so 2 models identical in everyway but 1 could be with ACE and the other not. "If" you remove ACE and fit the correct standard anti roll bars, again there is no issue.
