Hi, I have a 03 discovery XS TD5 manual and have seen a kit on Ebay for cruise control ,it seems to consist of a switch and the controls for the side of the steering wheel. Has anyone fitted this kit and does it just "plug in and play"?

Hi
Yes it does
It should contain steering wheel switch and dash switch but most important the metal bracket to hold the switch to the steering wheel

Easy fit and a great thing to have

I'm not sure how cruise works on manuals, the auto will change down if it encounters a bit of a hill etc, how will the manual cope with that.

Does it have a clutch switch or can you just change gear etc?

As soon as you depress the clutch cruise control will cut out

You just press resume.

Clutch works the same as pressing the brakes.

Ideally the engine will rev itself up before the incline gets steep and the auto box would kick down, some times it just drags the arse out of it and and just tries to pull along with road speed dropping as it can't compensate enough.

I bought one from a breakers and fitted it. Quite straightforward but follow the Rave instructions on removing the airbag properly.

You need the dashboard switch, the steering wheel switch and mounting bracket. You will also need to cut the hole for the steering wheel switch - it's just the mirror image of the stereo control, a dremel makes it easier.

After that it's just plug and play, the wires for the dashboard master switch are behind the existing switch blank and the steering wheel control wires are behind the the airbag unit.

I got my parts from a breakers but they can be seen here and here and here

Hope this helps.

Have a look at WWW.discovery2.co.uk/Factory Addons.

It's an excellent informative site .
