My manual TD5 has started over revving on clutch depression/gear change.

I,ve done lots of searching, and am pretty sure its down to the switch mounted to the master cylinder.

It doesnt do it all the time, probably 75% of gear changes.

The only thing thats stopping me from just fitting a new one is that it seems to have started soon a after I changed the master cylinder.

Does anyone know if this is just a coincedence or could there be air causing this problem ?.

Its no big deal to change the switch. Just dont want to waste £ 15 plus VAT.

Cheers.

Del.

( yes the switch is tight and the wires are connected properly ).

This exact problem happened on my TD5. The clutch switch sorted it. I think I got mine from Rimmer Bros and it was less than a fiver delivered for a genuine LR one.

Cheers, Andy

Dont want to sound more stupid thn usual BUT what switch are you talking about?? Ive just changed my master cylinder and there was no switch, Mine is a 2000 model so maybe its just on the newer models??

You,ll find on the earlier models that its " Teed " in the line between the cylinder and the slave.

Its the same switch just a different position.

I tried pushing more fluid through today in case it was air related, but it made no difference.

Ordered a new one today. Looks like I,ll have to take the master back off to fit it as it doesnt look like I can get me spanner on it.

I,ll post back my results.

I,ll post if it solves the problem.

Just to finish this one off.

I fitted a new switch today, which solved the over rev on gear change straight away !.

£ 14.70 from Landrover.

You Could try taking it out and cleaning it with switch cleaner. My switch played up and that sorted mine . As it is a dead end than all the crap built up inside.
